INFORMATION
Gimnazjum
im.Władysława Stanisława Reymonta
w
Wiączyniu Dolnym
The school was founded in 1999
and located in a former primary school. It is located on the
outskirts of the city Łódź and in the vicinity of Łódź Hills
Landskape Park. In 2005 the school was named for Władysław
Stanisław Reymont- famous Polish artist: playwright, writer,
painter.
In 1924 Reymont received the
Nobel Prize for Literature for the astonishing national epic- the
novel "The Peasants". This novel is an unquestionable
masterpiece. Reymont created
a suggestive picture of country
life. The novel impresses the reader with its authenticity of the
material reality, customs, behaviour and culture of the people. It
is even more authentical because it is written in the local dialect-
"spoken culture".
Władysław Reymont is the
author of numerous novels dealing with various phases of everyday
life in Poland. Many of them were transtaled into French, German,
Swedish. "The Comedienne" is the frirst of his works that
appeared in English.
"The Promised Land",
the next best novel, is a social panorama of Łódź, full of
drastic details presented as an arena of the struggle for survival.
The novel was translated into 15 languages and had two film
adaptations. This is a story about our city.
