"Discovering our Roots" The Play

Isabel:Buenas tardes a todos y bienvenidos a este festival.

Oana: Good evening everybody and welcome to our festival

Julia:Como veréis, hay gente de diferentes países: Polonia, Turquía, Italia, Rumania y por supuesto España, claro está.

Oana: As you may see, there are people from different countries: Romania, Poland, Italy, Turkey and of course, Spain.

Candela: Y ahora os vamos a contar un poco porque estamos aquí:

Oana: and now, we are going to tell you why we are here

Isabel: In septiembre del 2010, cinco colegios e institutos europeos, iniciamos estos proyectos juntos:

.Oana: In September 2010 five schools from Europe started a project together:

Julia: El proyecto se llama “Una comedia para recordar”, y en ingles las siglas son “ACTOR” y la idea era muy sencilla.

Candela: Los alumnos tenían que escribir una obra de teatro basada en los orígenes de su pueblo y después representarla todos juntos.

Isabel: Así nació esta obra: “Discovering our Roots” en la que los alumnos de Polonia, España, Italia, Rumania y Polonia actuarán todos juntos contándoos a todos los orígenes de la Mitología asturiana.

Oana: the project is called “A comedy to Remember”, that is, “ACTOR” and the idea is very simple. The students together had to write a comedy based on the origins of their towns and then represent the play all together.

So, “Discovering our roots” was born-a play  based on Asturian Mythology where students from Poland, Italy, Turkey, Romania and Spain will act together in a unique play.

Julia: Durante dos años hemos viajado a los diferentes colegios y compartido experiencias únicas: obras de teatro y actuaciones de los alumnos, visitas culturales y actividades todos juntos, como una gran familia.

Oana: for two years, we have visited different schools and shared unique  experiences: representations of the students, performances, visits, all together like a family.

Isabel: Ahora estáis a punto de ver el resultado de estos dos años de proyecto.

Oana: now, you are about to see the result of two years work

Isabel: vamos a comenzar nuestra función con los alumnos italianos que han venido cargando con los instrumentos musicales desde Italia y os van a ofrecer una serie de melodías muy conocidas.

Oana: let’s start our festival with teh Italian students, wonderfully directed by their teacher: Gelly de Leonardis who are going to play a selection of famous tunes.

Julia: Y ahora vamos a dar paso a la tan hablada obra de teatro: señoras y señores: con ustedes “Descubriendo nuestras raíces:

Oana: and now the play.

 1 ACTUACION:

Isabel: el primer personaje de la mitología asturiana son las xanas, las ninfas del agua y de los ríos

Oana: the first character  of asturian mythology is the Xanas. The fairies of the water and the rivers

Julia: con vosotros: Alicia Pavon, Olaya Ordax y Paula Rodríguez representando “LAS Xanas?

Oana: the Spanish students performing “The Xanas”, a big clap for them

2 ACTUACION

Candela: y ahora os vamos a presentar unos personajes muy divertidos y un poco locos

Oana: now we are going to present you a crazy charácter of our mythology

Isabel: todos los conocéis como Trasgus y aquí teneis dos estupendos: Román Rodriguez Noriega y Carlos Raigoso

Oana: A big clap to welcome The Trasgus

3 ACTUACION

Julia: nuestra tercera actuación son unos personajes malísimos, a los que les encanta asustar y hacer unos conjuros rarísimos

Oana: our third performance is about very bad characters, who love scare people and perform terrible spells.

Candela: so las brujas, y estas nuestras tiene un acento italiano que os va a encantar

Oana: they are the witches and our witches have a fantastic Italian Accent.

Isa: señoras y señores, un aplauso para recibir a la delegación italiana representado las brujas.

Oana: ladies and gentelemen a big clap to welcome the Italian delegation:

Isabel: y ahora un personaje muy temido, una especie de animal que asusta a los niños y a los mayores: El cuelebre

Oana: and now a terible monster of whom everybody is afraid: The Cuelebre

Julia: Manuel Aladro Y Alberto Rios os contarán su historia

Oana: And now, El cuelebre. A big clap for them

5 ACTUACION

Isabel: y ahora nos vamos a Polonia, donde los alumnos entienden a las mil maravillas los secretos del mar

Oana: and now it is Poland’s turn. The country has a seaside so the students perfectly know the secrets of the sea.

Cande: nos van a representar a los pequeños duendes del mar llamados “Espumerus”

Oana:Natalia, Dominika, Monika, And Magdalena Representing the little sea creatures called “Espumerus”. A big clap for them

6 ACTUACION

Julia: y ahora es el turno de unas mujeres que no se sabe muy bien si son malas o buenas. A veces se portan bien y ayudan a la gente y otras vale más huir de ellas.

Oana: and now we are going to present a strange character, a woman. You don’t really know if such women are good or bad. Sometimes they help people and other times it is better to escape from them.

Isabel: con vosotros Carlota Gomar y Juncal Guerrero como Les Llavanderes

Oana: let me introduce Les Llavanderes, a big clap for them

7 ACTUACION:

Candela: el personaje que viene a continuación es malo malisimo. ¿Seres humanos? ¿Espiritus?

Isabel: sea lo que sea, es mejor que escapes de ellos.

Oana: the next characters are really really bad. Humans? Spirits? Whatever they are, You had better escape from them!!

Julia: con vosotros Natalia Menéndez, Celia Busta e Irene Peri como las Guestias

Oana: a big clap to welcome LAS GUESTIAS

8ACTUACION:

Isabel: y ahora nos movemos muy al sur, hasta Turquia, con un personaje muy peculiar: El Nuberu, el señor del viento

Oana: and now we move south to Turkey to Discovery a very peculiar character: the master of the wind, THE NUBERU:

Candela: Los alumnos de Gunkiri nos darán su propia versión del señor des vientos.

Oana: Gunkiri students will give their interpretation of the play. A big clap to welcome:

Julia: y ahora vamos a presenciar una pequeña obra representada por los alumnos de Lodz

Polonia fue famosa en Europa por sus industrias textiles, por eso esta pequeña obra esta relacionada con sus raíces.

Oana: and now it is Polish students turn again. Poland used to be famous for its manufacture factories, that is why this play is connected with Polish origins

Isabel: Tres personajes quieren organizarse para crear una fábrica.

Pero las cosas no son tan fáciles como parecen y enseguida surgen los problemas. Casarse con una chica rica les parece una buena solución.

Oana: three characters want to build a factory. But things are not as easy as they seemed and soon problems arise. But getting married a rich woman seems a good solution.

Candela: con todos vosotros, los alumnos del instituto de Lodz, representando:

Isabel: y ahora vamos a dar paso a la banda de gaitas

Oana: let’s listen to the asturian bagpipes

Candela: y ahora pedimos que todos los que quieran suban al scenario para cantar juntos el himno de Asturias

Oana: and now, we ask all the delegations and audience to come to the stage to sing together the asturian hymn, together with the bagpipes
